Field 1: The Split

A beautiful field split by Snake Meadow Brook, it has both a clear open field on the left-hand side and a more wooded, brush-lined edge on the right-hand side. This is a great field for working your dogs in various environments, as well as a great walk. Field 1 is well-groomed and relatively flat, but the stone is our best crop here in New England, so every year there are new bumps in the stocking paths!

Field 2: Howard's Favorite

Located beyond Fields 1 and 3, on the Edge of the Lower Pond, Field 2 offers a true corner spot in our field inventory. It has a beautiful flat area across the right and middle, leading to the Swell uphill centered around a clump of tall pines. There is also a grove of pines along the flat right side of the field, near the Lower Pond that are often hiding spots for rabbits and turkeys.

Field 3: Broadway

To the left of Field 1, with a gradual uphill slope, Field 3 combines the best of open land and woods hunting. Adjoining Field 2 on its right-hand side, it had beautiful wide-open field access to it. As the field approaches the Tennant Brook, a line of trees and scrub transition to a more wooded hunting field. Across the creek on the bridge, another part of the field opens with thick grasses up against the fence lining the main road.

Field 4: Newell's Spot

A favorite of our Ground Committee Chair, this field is across from the main entrance to the club, with access to vehicles on both ends. It's a low field on the entrance, which builds uphill on the left-hand side to the field line. This is a great field, with vertical stocking paths and great cover for birds. You can cross the same Tennant Brook that splits Field 3 and have another wide arc that backs up to the field line. It's ringed by tall pines and oaks, which also split the field into left and right segments, and is a favorite for its unique landscape and woodland transitions.

Field 5: Decommissioned

Field 5 is no longer in use, given its location near the main entrance and roadway to the Upper Pond.

Field 6: Brad's Favorite

Field 6 is the closest you'll ever feel to duck hunting while actually upland hunting. This field is a favorite of retrieving dogs and it's ringed on 3 sides by water. Set with crisscrossing paths and on The north side of the Upper Pond, Field 6 is known for its tall, thick grasses and slightly tougher footing. This field offers a number of different approaches, with a couple of the entry points aligning with Field 7.

Field 7: The Triangle

Set deep back from the clubhouse, up past the main road to the Rifle Range, Field 7 opens like a large triangle, with the tip at the other end of the field. Set back from the Upper Pond Field 7 offers a great convergence zone for a pair of hunters, working front to back if desired. Even better, the grounds committee has two stocking paths on both sides of the triangle, so you could walk the perimeter in, then push back from the tip. Field 7 is relatively flat, well groomed with a decent amount of cover, and is easy on the knees! Given its unique landscape and beautiful views on a foggy morning, Field 7 is a highly sought field by members for hunting.

Field 8: The Rise

Field 8 in the Spring could be a picture of pheasant hunting in the Midwest, just a long, fairly wide field that moves down the left-hand side of the main road headed to the rifle range. As you approach the rifle range, the field rises to the left and swells up toward Field 11, the Hill. Like Field 6, Field 8 is relatively flat, well-groomed with a decent amount of cover, and easy on the knees!

Field 9: The Climb

Field 9 is accessed by an access road going straight up the hill from the Clubhouse. This one is not for the faint of heart, it's all angles and edges, with very few level spots. Down on its left, it slopes down to meet Field 10, with vertical paths and a perimeter that will keep you on your toes. Despite the terrain, it's a beautiful field sided with Field 10 and another spot with great club views.

Field 10: The Valley Limit

Field 10 can be accessed either by coming through Field 9 on the perimeter or up the access Road from the right-hand side of Field 1. This field is also very hilly, it has a low spot coming down from Field 9 but rises back up and moves high to the left again. It's got a thick cover and vertical paths that really puts the 'up' in upload hunting. But like Field 9, it's a favorite among members for memorable hunts and great views of our property.

Field 11: The Hill

Added after Fields 9 and 10 were established behind the Clubhouse, Field 11 is truly an upland experience. Field 11 starts where Field 8 ends: As the ground starts to climb! It's no mountain climb, but it is by no means flat. With a natural spring in the middle and a bowl-like circle at the top, There are some spectacular views of the club from the northern tip of Field 11. This is a great place to learn how to hunt both up and down a hill in upload hunting and is a favorite of many of our club members.
